Meet Your Hosts
Meet Monte & Heather Chapman
On January 14, 2022, Monte & Heather Chapman became the proud new owners of Anchor Inn Resort. As the fifth owners of the resort, they are excited to continue its rich and storied history dating back more than 10 decades to 1921.
Monte and Heather were married in August 1992 as high school sweethearts. They have one adult daughter, Emily.
Both Monte & Heather enjoy hunting, fishing and everything outdoors. They built a cabin in Port Wing, Wisconsin near Lake Superior where their favorite activities included bird and deer hunting and four-wheeling. Monte is an ardent fisherman! From the big waters of Lake Superior, to the saltwater coasts of Alaska or the Atlantic, to freshwater lakes and rivers, Monte and Heather pursue fishing no matter the season or the weather.
Both fell in love with lake life when they moved to Amnicon Lake in northwest Wisconsin. Later as they vacationed in neighboring Minnesota, they entertained the idea of bringing together their love of the outdoors and working with people as their next step in life. After a short exploration of properties, they fell in love with Anchor Inn and the possibilities available to them and customers. Monte can’t wait to help the guests get on the fish!
They owned and operated Chapman’s Septic from 1994 through 2004. Monte worked in the logging industry and then joined Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad where he loaded one-thousand-foot taconite boats at Twin Harbors on Lake Superior. He has worn many hats at the railroad including mechanic, maintenance and equipment operator. He has a crane operator license and welding talents.
Following the sale of the family’s septic business, Heather entered the sales industry at Pepsi. She later moved into food sales and most recently wine. She enjoyed selling and teaching customers how to enjoy their experience and about the industry. She has been in the business of making people happy during her entire sales career.
Monte’s and Heather’s shared enthusiasm for the outdoors, sports, nature and working with people has prepared them well for providing a great guest experience here at Anchor Inn. They are both excited for this next chapter in life.
“We sincerely thank the entire Kitterman Family for all their years of hard work and dedication to building this amazing resort.” said Heather Chapman. “We are so excited for this opportunity to meet resort guests and continue the legacy of Minnesota Northwoods Vacations with legendary fishing, hunting and hospitality that is Anchor Inn Resort.”
