Fishing from the bridge is safe and fun. There’s almost always a good bite. Fishing is a favorite past time of Anchor Inn guests – both young and “mature.” The Bowstring River runs past our docks allowing anglers access to some of Minnesota’s greatest walleye fishing lakes, Sand Lake and Bowstring Lake. The Anchor Inn bridge, just feet from our doorstep, offers is a great place to fish the river for huge walleye and buckets of bluegill. Many of our guests have equally good luck fishing from our docks and shore!

There’s always something to see and do at the resort. Kids will love the great children’s playground. Try out our kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and paddleboat or rent one of our pontoons or a fishing boat and motor. Many guests spend hours exploring the wildlife that inhabits the shores of the Bowstring River and Rice Lake. Roast hot dogs and make smores over a campfire, then soak up the serenity that is Minnesota’s Northwoods.

The waters of the Bowstring River system are clean and clear – great for swimming and boating. The river allows boaters access to Sand or Little Sand Lakes where many of our guests spend their summer afternoons waterskiing and tubing. A short drive brings you to one of the many sand beaches in our area allowing swimmers, sand castle builders and sun-seekers an ideal spot to spend a summer afternoon. Or Anchor Inn guests can rent a paddleboat and spend hours exploring the wildlife that inhabits the shores of the Bowstring River and Rice Lake.
