"I
have been going to Anchor Inn for 15 years and it is
every bit a piece of heaven. We usually go in the fall
when the leaves are in their full glory and the fishing
is at its best.
The fishing is the best I have ever experienced. We
frequently come home with our limits and the fun part is
you never know for sure what is going to hit your line.
It could be the much sought after walleye, a fighting
northern, a nice ring perch, or a hand size crappie.
I made my decision to retire early while enjoying a day
fishing with the Kittermans on Rice Lake. It
is fun enjoying nature together with good
friendship in the northwoods.
Whether you want to fish, read a book, do nothing, or
enjoy one of Bud's many fish tales - it is so relaxing
at Anchor Inn! I especially enjoy the weekly fish
fry and carry-in meal.
I can't wait until my next trip to Anchor Inn."

Legendary Fishing
Fishing the
Bowstring Chain of Lakes
Anglers find a sportsman's paradise at Anchor Inn Resort.
Our unique location on the shore of the
Bowstring River offers
our guests lake access to Minnesota fisheries like
Bowstring
Lake, Big Sand Lake,
Little Sand Lake and the Bowstring River.
Walleye, northern pike, crappie, sunfish, rock bass, smallmouth
bass, largemouth bass and perch all thrive in the clean and
unspoiled waters of the winding Bowstring River. Anglers
come from miles around to fish from the "Anchor Inn Bridge."
Its walkway, just a few feet from our front door, produces
everything from stingers of sunfish to buckets of bullhead as
well as wall-mount walleye and trophy-size northern pike.
Our guests often find a shady spot under a tree and shore fish
along the resort's mile-long river frontage. Just
downstream is
Rice Lake, a spectacular fish hatchery, with 817
acres of sun-warmed shallow water nearly covered with wild rice.
From
our docks anglers can also explore the hundreds of miles of open
water that make up The Bowstring Chain of Lakes. Lakes
like Bowstring and Big Sand are well-known Minnesota walleye
fisheries offering vast fish habitat and varied underwater
structure such as sand bars, weed beds, deep holes, bays and
islands. Little Sand Lake, a quiet 371 acre lake, is one
of the best kept secrets in Minnesota walleye fishing.
Because of its small size and shallow basin, Little Sand Lake
would not be expected to provide a walleye fishery. However,
Little Sand Lake has a good walleye fishery which likely results
from walleye movement throughout the Bowstring River system. Its
calm waters offer a haven when rough weather keeps you off of
the big lakes and it has many good fishing spots of its own.
Anglers targeting any of these great Minnesota fishing lakes can
expect to find excellent fishing
for walleye, northern pike, jumbo perch, largemouth bass,
smallmouth bass, crappie and bluegill.
Our hospitality is
legendary and keeps guests returning year after year. We
make sure that you get great service as well as all of the
amenities that make a great MN fishing vacation like our
private boat launch, licenses, gas, oil and bait sales, fish
cleaning facilities and boat and motor
rentals.
